Melissa Lammers grew up in Ormond-by-the-Sea. After decades living in Miami, the Caribbean and the San Francisco Bay Area, she came home in 2016. She immediately began repurposing her professional skills as a marketing communications strategist to create awareness of and support solutions to the environmental issues we face in Volusia County. She sits on the state board of Audubon Florida, chairs Volusia County's ENRAC (Environmental and Natural Resources Advisory Committee), is on the board of Halifax River Audubon and a member of the Pawpaw Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society and is an active member of the Environmental Council of Volusia and Flagler Counties (ECVF) and the Natural Resources Committee of the League of Women Voters. Her most noteworthy environmental accomplishment is as vice chair and communications strategist for the ECHO VOLUSIA FOREVER campaign in support of these two important quality-of-life programs in our county. In 2020, both referenda passed with more than 70% of votes.
