Education Forum

From its inception in 2012 to the present, Ocean Art Gallery’s owner/director, Frank Gromling, has steadfastly presented a broad series of public talks about his two favorite subjects: art and nature.

To provide a firm basis for art education in the gallery, Gromling engages highly educated and experienced fine artists to share their knowledge with art lovers and collectors, up and coming artists and the general public seeking to broaden their art understanding. Talented artists with professional speaking skills have presented informative talks about their art mediums and techniques, how to become a professional artist, being accepted into galleries, pricing one’s artwork and more.

With a lifetime connected to the Atlantic Ocean, plus his published books and articles about its marine life and the importance of protecting its water and inhabitants, Gromling has a foundation on which his informational and entertaining presentations resonate with his audiences. Gromling’s over 20-year research on North Atlantic right whales and sea turtles enables him to offer powerful programs supported by personal anecdotes, photographs and videos on these special creatures. His study about dolphins, manatees, sharks, barrier islands and more adds to his presentation list.
Now in its ninth year, Ocean Art Gallery has established its Education Forum as a new component of the gallery designed exclusively to provide a more structured program of art and nature talks to the community. In addition to the knowledge of the gallery’s artists and owners, additional specialists are recruited to provide even greater education than before. By April 1, 2021, Ocean Art Gallery’s Education Forum will have over 15 professional speakers whose schedule of presentations on art and nature will be announced. We encourage you to stay tuned, and visit Ocean Art Gallery online at www.oagart.com or visit personally at 197 E. Granada Blvd (SR 40), Ormond Beach, FL 32176. 386.317.9400.

COVID-19 Guidelines:
Ocean Art Gallery is operated under all CDC COVID-19 guidelines for guest and staff safety. Doors and touchable surfaces are sanitized frequently, hand sanitizers are numerous, masks are encouraged although not required under city code, and social distancing is heartily practiced.
During COVID-19, we also will utilize remote programming to accommodate those who are not yet totally comfortable with attending live events.

Presentation Formats:
Some presentations will utilize the large flat-screen television in the beautiful 2,000 square foot main gallery. Other talks will be in the 1,000 square foot workshop and presentation room outfitted with special lighting, projection and screen set-up for 12 guests.

Art talks generally incorporate original artwork of the speakers. Still photography and video also may be blended.
Nature talks most often utilize PowerPoint programs of photographs and videos captured in the wild.
Questions and answers are encouraged by all speakers. Most talks are 30 - 60 minutes in length.
If you have an interesting subject to suggest for the Education Forum, please submit it by email to Frank Gromling at frank@oagart.com.
